Endowment funds are financial assets that generate income. While the principal of the fund remains untouched, part of the income generated can provide a source of revenue. This revenue may be used to cover operating expenses or be reinvested for future benefit. Chatham Day School created its endowment fund in 2007, through the generous foresight of one of our families, and the revenue from it is currently underwriting faculty professional development programs. Increasing the endowment fund is a strategic priority.
Capital campaigns are held periodically to raise significant funds for major projects as needed, such as constructing new buildings, completing renovations, adding to the campus, or adding to the Endowment Fund. Contributions are often pledged over a period of 3-5 years, and provide named gift opportunities.
Opening New Doors: The Campaign for Chatham Day School raised over $4,000,000 to purchase our 15-acre property and to renovate The Stephen and Miray Tse Academic Building. Today’s students benefit from the generosity of those CDS families who went before them, and current parents help to ensure the continued growth trajectory of the school. Imagine is the next phase in a campus expansion plan to build a new field house. Further details are forthcoming. |
